Assalamualaikum Wr.Wb

The Honorable the Juries and participants of English Speech Contest and all audience. Before I begin to give a speech I would like to introduce My self, My Name is Alfian Pandu. I’m from Vocational High School 4 Bondowoso.
First of all I would like to invite you to thank to Allah the Almighty ,who has given us Mercy and Blessing, so we can meet together in this nice place and let’s deliver sholawat and salam to our prophet Muhammad SAW who has brought us from the darkness to the brightness, so we are always in the right path.

Ladies and gentlemen
Consciously or not, we live in this world dependent on the environment, we drink water that comes from our environment, we breathe the air that comes from our environment, we eat food that comes from our environment. Our environment has a great influence on our lives. Therefore good or bad environment will directly affect the good-badnya our lives in particular.
Various kinds of environmental damage caused by human activities that they unknowingly harmed themselves and especially for the environment. Examples of environmental damage include floods, pollution, forest fires, and garbage problems that are increasingly piled up every day. Despite thousands of times prompted instructions to dispose of waste in place, until now there are still many problems caused by the amount of garbage. One small but crucial thing in the environment is the use of plastic waste.

Ladies and gentlemen
There is no accurate data on the amount of plastic waste contamination in Indonesia, although there are some estimates. As quoted from geotimes, overall, garbage in Jakarta reaches 6,000 to 6,500 tons per day. Meanwhile, according to Indonesia Solid Waste Association (InSWA), as quoted by Antara, Indonesia's plastic waste production is about 5.4 million tons per year. While based on BPLHD, about 13 percent of waste in Jakarta is 6000 tons per day is plastic waste.

I'm sure these experiences have been experienced by everyone here. Realize, that the main cause of the environmental comes from us. If we continue to ignore it, a disaster soon will come. So what should we do to improve the environmental problem? I am standing here not just to give a speech about the condition of our environment-critical condition, I personally also want to invite to do some action that is really small and easy to do. With these efforts, human beings are expected to live in harmony with their environment so that nature will have a positive impact on human life.

Ladies and gentlemen
In this speech, I would like to propose a solution to actualize the healthy environtment that is The three R's – reduce, reuse and recycle for plastic waste– which when we apply it effectively help to cut down on the amount of plastic waste we throw away. They conserve natural resources, landfill space and energy. Plus, the three R's save land and money communities must use to dispose of waste in landfills.

First, Reduce is the reduction of the use of materials that damage the environment. For example the use of mineral water bottles in our daily life, we do not realize that in every day from the bottles of drinking water that we consume donate waste that is not small for our environment. Imagine if we drink one bottle of mineral water every day. It will donate 30 bottles of mineral water every month and canyou imagine ladiesand gentleman, if 100 person drink mineral water, it will donate 3000 plastic bottles every day. We can start to reduce the use of plastic waste in our daily use, we can bring our own bottle every day to our school, our office, etc.

The second , Reuse . Reuse is reusing goods. Choose a container, bag or object that can be used multiple times or repeatedly. For example, use a handkerchief instead of using a tissue, using a cloth shopping bag instead of using a plastic bag.
Use electronic storage devices that can be erased and rewritten.
Using the blank side of the paper to write.

The third is recycle. Recycle is recycling goods. The easiest way is to recycle organic waste in your home, using a plastic bottle of drinking water or anything as a potted plant, to recycle used paper to become paper again. Massive recycling has not become a habit in Indonesia. Dumpster that distinguishes between organic and non-organic just does not work. In fact, ultimately more environmental guerrillas are recycling creatively and transmitting it to many people than the government. Meanwhile, it can be a solution to actualize the healthy environment.

So Ladies and Gentlemen, start from now, let’s love our environtment by applying 3R;Reduce, reuse, recycle in our daily life.
